Joe Dimaggio was the star in center field for the New York Yankees after the end of the Babe Ruth era. He entered military service in 1943 and was discharged in 1945. He is the only player to have been selected for the All-Star Game every season that he played. He is best known for his 56-game hitting streak in 1941, a record which still stands.
