Dorothy Parker was an American writer, noted for her wit. Born in New Jersey, she was a founding member of the Algonquin Round table in New York City. After the group broke up, Parker went to Hollywood where she became a successful screenwriter and received two Academy Award nominations. However, her association with members of the Left led to her being placed in the Hollywood Blacklist.
