Established by the United Church of Christ in 1889, Elon University is a private institution of higher learning, famed for its excellence in the arts and sciences, along with outstanding professional programs. The university is located on a 575-acre campus in Elon, North Carolina.

Elon University awards undergraduate degrees in 48 majors, masterís degrees in business administration and education, and doctoral programs in physical therapy and law.

The university comprises the College of Arts and Sciences, Martha and Spencer Love School of Business, School of Communications, School of Education, and Elon University School of Law.

In addition to educational programs, students are provided with an array of such recreational opportunities as intramural activities, club sports, outdoor recreation, group exercise, a fitness center, aquatics program, and driving range.

The Carol Grotnes Belk Library features approximately 240,000 volumes, 1,250 periodical titles, more than 17,000 full-text journals available on-line, and more than 8,000 videocassettes and DVDs.

The Isabella Cannon Center for International Studies, named after Dr. Isabella Walton Cannon, is committed to create, cultivate, and sustain an atmosphere of international learning throughout the university.

Elon University is ranked fifth in its category in the U.S. News & World Reportís annual survey of "America's Best Colleges," and also is ranked as a top-tier regional institution.
