Stanly Memorial Hospital (SMH), a member of the Stanly Health Services family, is located in Albemarle, North Carolina. This private, non-profit medical facility is accredited by the Joint Commission on the Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations (JCAHO). Since inception in 1981, Stanly Memorial Hospital has been providing a broad range of affordable quality health care services to the community it serves. The forerunner of Stanly Memorial Hospital was Stanly County Hospital, a 100-bed facility located on the former site of Yadkin Hospital and Stanly General Hospital. It was the first in North Carolina to begin a cardiac care unit. After rapid expansion, the present-day 119-bed facility was dedicated to ensure finest health care services. Available areas of specialization are Anesthesiology, Cardiology, Dermatology, Emergency Medicine, Gastroenterology, Geriatric Medicine, General surgery, Pathology, Ophthalmology, Pediatric, Psychiatry, Urology, Radiology, Obstetrics and Gynecology, Pulmanology, Neurology, and Nephrology. Inpatient and outpatient behavioral health, rehabilitation, diagnostic, and surgical services are also offered at SMH. The Child Advocacy Center (CAC) at Stanly Memorial Hospital focuses to provide comprehensive support to child abuse victims in Stanly and surrounding counties. The SMH Health Library, at the Family & Education Center, provides access to health information. It has health related videos and videotapes of hospital-based forums and symposiums. In addition, a full spectrum of community health support groups, health education classes, and wellness service are offered to evoke public awareness.
