Performing Arts, Est. 1995

The University of Georgia Performing Arts Center is situated in the town of Athens, Georgia. It is located on the East Campus, off River Road, north of Carton Street.

Athens is a classic university town made picturesque by the Blue Ridge and Great Smoky mountains, and the Atlantic coast. The University of Georgia Performing Arts Center, established in 1995, has now completed a decade of outstanding performances in different artistic forms.

The PAC building’s main lobby is the welcome area for performances. It provides access to concession stands, the box office, and the administrative offices on the second floor.

Architecturally complex, the glass wall located on the south facing wall provides a view of the Performing Arts Complex plaza and the Ramsey Student Physical Activities Center farther south.

The Performing Arts Center has two concert halls, namely, the Hugh Hodgson Concert Hall and Ramsey Concert Hall. The former is the larger of the two with seating capacity for 1,100. Ramsey Concert Hall, seating 360, offers a more intimate setting for solo recitals and chamber music concerts.

Over the years, the University of Georgia Performing Arts Center has provided its audience with magnum opus performances from maestros around the world. Timothy A. Bartholow, Director, Office of Performing Arts, plays a pivotal role in the all-round development of the center.

In an effort to revitalize the Center, Georgia’s leaders are also co-operating with the management. They are planning to extend the Performing Arts Center with a Visual Arts Center.
