Kittitas County extends from Snoqualmie Pass to the Columbia River. Interstate 90 runs through east-west and Highway 97 runs north-south, passing through the principal city and county seat, Ellensburg. The other major city is Cle Elum, which like Ellensburg lies on the Yakima River.
