Douglas County |
Douglas County is bordered on the north and west by the Columbia River. Most of its land area is extremely dry and lightly populated. The Grand Coulee Dam marks the southeast corner of the county. Its major communities are Waterville, the county seat, East Wenatchee across the river from Wenatchee, and Bridgeport on the Columbia River.
Douglas County was created in 1883 and contains over 1800 square miles, ranking 17th in the state.
