W T Preston Sternwheel Snagboat

Located at 7th St and R Ave

Built in 1939 by the Army Corp of Engineers, the W.T.Preston was the last snagboat to operate on Puget Sound. The Preston worked 11 months of each year removing driftwood, waterlogged pilings, logs, and other debris from area waterways.

Retired in 1981, the stern-wheeler is now a maritime museum showing the vessel's mechanism.

The Preston is part of the Anacortes History Museum, along with the Carnegie Gallery. The Preston is listed as a National Historic Landmark.
