William O Douglas Wilderness

William O Douglas was a justice of the U.S. Supreme Court with a well known interest in the environment. The William O Douglas Wilderness covers 168,157 acres, partly in Wenatchee National Forest and partly in Gifford Pinchot National Forest.

The wilderness has four major rivers, old-growth forests, many lakes, and high peaks.

Sixty-six trails crisscross the wilderness, totaling about 250 miles of hiking trails through varied terrain with many species of wildlife, including major big game and game bird species.
