Toppenish National Wildlife Refuge |
The refuge is spread across 27 miles in the heart of the Yakima Indian Reservation.
Nearly 250 species of birds have been sighted on the refuge, including shorebirds, migratory waterfowl, song birds, and raptors.
A nature trail traverses the area and an interpretive center provides descriptions of the trails and features stuffed birds and other natural history exhibits.
The refuge is open year round daily during daylight hours. It is located 6 miles south of Toppenish on Highway 97, then one mile west from the refuge sign.
Yakima Indian Nation Reservation permits are required for hunting since the lands are within the tribal reservation.
