Springdale Washington |
Located in the Spokane, WA metropolitan area and in the Rocky Mountain Gateway. Springdale is in Stevens County. En route to the Columbia River/Franklin D Roosevelt Lake and about 40 miles north of Spokane. The town was started by Deer Park Lumber Company and had a little bit of everything - farming, logging, and mining. At one time the town had a creamery, doctor's office, mercantile, barbershop, boarding house, post office, sawmill, and several saloons, including one set aside strictly for Indians.
There are still several original buildings in town today, plus a small cemetery just outside of town with grave markers going back to 1892.
As an incorporated town they just celebrated their 100th anniversary. Population: 275 residents. The town is proud of their new K-12 school. They also provide a firehouse, post office, clinic, hardware store, grocery store, auto gas, restaurants, park, pond, and the historic Springdale lumber is still active.
