Silver

The town of Silver, located 5 miles southeast of Twisp, was the first town established in the Methow Valley around 1890. It served as a supply center for early settlers.

There was a saloon, blacksmith shop, dance hall, and the first post office in the Methow Valley.

The town was washed away by the flood of 1894. A second town was built up above the original townsite, but it was abondoned in the early 1900s.

The schoolhouse still stands today, and serves as a clubhouse for the Women's Club.
