Silcott |
The extinct community of Silcott is located on the south side of the Snake River, close to Clarkston. This was the location of the Nez Perce village of Alpaweyma. Lewis and Clark stopped at the village during their 1805-06 voyage.
Archaeologists from Washington State University found evidence of a 6,000 year old house here. Today most of the site is underwater, while the higher ground features a museum focusing on the archeology of Silcott and the village of Alpaweyma.
