Sequim Washington

Sequim, an Indian word pronounced SKWIM and meaning "calm waters", is a popular retirement area, with its dry sunny climate and varied recreational opportunities. Nearby Dungeness Spit is the longest natural spit in the country.

The Sequim-Dungeness Valley is well known as the "banana belt" of Western Washington. With an average of only 16 inches of rain per year, Sequim has less rain than San Francisco, and only a little more than Los Angeles or Salt Lake City!

Highway 101 passes through Sequim, which is a half hour east of Port Angeles in Clallam County. Annual Events include The Jazz in the Olympics Society in June, and the Lavender Festival in July, and the Country Rhythm and Blues in July.
