Nisqually National Wildlife Refuge

The refuge was established in 1974 for the protection of the Nisqually delta and the plant and animal life dependent upon it. The combination of salt and freshwater marshes, tideflats, forests, grasslands and streams provides habitats for a variety of birds, mammals and reptiles. It is located about 10 miles east of Olympia on the north side of Interstate 5.
