The 54-acre preserve is on Snake Lake, which was named for its shape. The preserve has diverse habitats which include forest, wetland, and lake.
Visitors have the opportunity for
- Nature education, workshops, special events and day camps
- Science education programs for teachers and students alike, either at the center or in the classroom
- Nature tours for classrooms or organized groups
- Wildlife observation shelters, feeders, and bridges that span the lake
- An interpretive center and gift shop
