The wilderness has a total of 117,528 acres. The most prominent feature of the wilderness is, of course, Mount Baker, rising to an elevation of 10,778 feet. Many species of alpine flowers bloom here, and black bear, deer, and mountain goats share the area. The wilderness shares its eastern border with North Cascades National Park.
