Mount Vernon Washington

Mount Vernon was named after George Washington's plantation; the town was founded on his birthday in 1877.

Mount Vernon is best known for its daffodils and tulips - which, in the spring, are everywhere you look. West of Mount Vernon is one of the nation's largest commercial bulb growing regions. Daffodils bloom from mid-March to early April and tulips during the first half of April and irises in early May. Mount Vernon is the county seat, and largest city of Skagit County near Interstate 5.

There is also a Mount Vernon, Indiana.
