St. Joseph Hospital is a 253-bed, two-campus medical center and Level II Trauma Center in Bellingham. As Whatcom County's only hospital, St. Joseph Hospital provides a full range of inpatient and outpatient services, including: 24-hour emergency and trauma care, neurosurgery, total joint replacement and The Cardiovascular Center at St. Joseph Hospital Community Cancer Center.
The hospital was established in Whatcom County in 1891 with the main campus at present location since 1966, with major building projects in 1975, 1985, 1993 and 1996. This hospital is operated as a not-for-profit, voluntary, private institution - as opposed to a for-profit hospital or a tax-supported public hospital.
Facility is owned and operated by PeaceHealth, Bellevue, Washington, and directed by a 12-member Governing Board made up of Bellingham and Whatcom County residents who serve voluntarily.
