Lind Washington

Lind, Washington (Cities) image A farming community off Highway 395 southwest of Ritzville, Lind traces its roots back to 1880, the year a railroad well was established. "Lind" is the Icelandic word for "well," and the community quickly became home to many people, growing to a population of over 900 by 1914.

As a farming community, Lind has witnessed the horse-powered threshing machine to the modern harvesting machine, and from the steam locomotive to the diesel-electric train.

Today, agriculture and the railroad are the staples of the economy. The Lind business district has been carefully maintained and is home to a variety of businesses, making the town self-sufficient.
