Grasser's Lagoon |
Extensive tidelands feature great clamming and world-famous Penn Cove mussels. Great herons are found in the area and visitors can see the results of heavy tidal action. In clear weather, a panoramic view from the top of Grasser's Hill reveals views of Mount Baker, Penn Cove, Coupeville, and Camano Island.
Nearby Hastie Lake, once the largest lake on the island, has become a wetland, due to silting and partial filling. It is home to a great many waterfowl and other wildlife.
