Ellensburg, Washington is located in the heart of the beautiful Kittitas Valley, approximately 110 miles east of Seattle and 170 miles west of Spokane. Historic Ellensburg is home to year-round recreational activities, numerous events, excellent dining, and a variety of performing and visual arts.
Ellensburg, has become a popular hub for concerts at the nearby Gorge Amphitheatre, water skiing on the Columbia River, golfing at the new Suncadia Prospector Course, fly fishing, river rafting, snowmobiling, and cross country skiing. Ellensburg's historic district offers a wide variety of cultural activities, eclectic shops, pubs and restaurants. Ellensburg experiences more than 300 days of sunshine, and four distinct seasons.
Some of the events Ellensburg hosts throughout the year are:
- Brewfest - sample the best brews from the northwest
- Spirit of the West Cowboy Gathering - pays homage to cowboy poets, musicians, and artists while celebrating the history and diversity of the cowboy culture
- Ellensburg National Art Show & Auction - join artists, gallery owners, and art collectors from across the nation
- TRIOBA Adventure Race Series - each event will consist of trekking, trail running, orienteering, and mountain biking
- First Friday Art Walks are scheduled every month - what could be better than exercise and culture?
- Every Saturday in May - October, the Kittitas County Farmers Market is open
- Dachshund's on Parade, "Short" Parade, Dachshund Races, Stupid Pet Tricks, and Costume Contest Whisky Dick Triathlon, Break away from the daily routine and come enjoy the hometown hospitality that only the Whisky Dick and the Ellensburg community can offer
- Jazz in the Valley Festival is a celebration of jazz in Historic Downtown Ellensburg
- Ellensburg Rodeo, awarded as one of America's top 25 rodeos. The best riders from all over compete for prize money over $250,000.
