Chief Timothy Park |
Chief Timothy Park is on an island in the Snake River on the route of the historic Lewis and Clark trail. The park is named for the chief of the Alpowai encampment of the Nez Perce Indian Tribe. The Alpowai Interpretive Center is built near the original site of the village that existed here in the mid 1800's. There are also several historical markers in the area that tell of the region's history in more detail.
Enjoy 4 boat ramps and 3000 feet of dock at this 282-acre park. Offers excellent camping facilities in a primarily desert environment.
