Northwest Museum of Arts & Culture |
The Northwest Museum of Arts and Culture (MAC) was founded in 1918 as the Eastern Washington State Historical Society. It was accredited by the American Association of Museums in 1972. After closing for expansion, the new MAC opened its doors in December 2001. The complex includes the historic Campbell House, Cheney Cowles Museum and the main exhibition building.
All exhibits and programs reflect the Museum's three major disciplines - visual art, regional history, and American Indian and other cultures.
Particularly noteworthy is the museum's extensive collection of Plateau Indian arts and handicrafts.
