Cashmere Washington |
Originally called Mission in 1873 after a log church built by the Catholic missionary Father Grassi, the name Cashmere is derived from the Vale of Kashmir in India.
When you visit Cashmere, you are in the geographic center of Washington State, nestled in the foothills of the eastern slope of the Cascade Mountains. Blessed with over 300 days of sunshine each year, Cashmere's fruit industry is strong with apples, pears, cherries, peaches and many more.
Cashmere is home to Liberty Orchards, producers of the world famous Aplets and Cotlets and many other confectionery delights. Also popular with visitors is the Chelan Co. His. Museum & Pioneer Village - with over 20 original buildings dating back to the 1800s.
