The Supreme Court, during the tenure of Earl Warren as its Chief Justice, delivered a series of decisions that changed the way America dealt with racial justice (Brown v. Board of Education), criminal justice (Miranda v. Virginia), and many other subjects of intense social importance. Although Earl Warren was a Republican, and had served as governor of California, his decisions tended to be supported by Democrats and often to infuriate Republicans.
