Carl Washburne State ParkAgency: Oregon State Parks Listed in Lane County Parks |
Named in honor of Carl G. Washburne, an Oregon highway commissioner in the 1930s, the bulk of the 1,100-acre park was donated by the estate of Washburne's widow, Narcissa.
The park is a gently rolling tract covered with dense shorepine and shrub vegetation along China Creek, fronted by more then a mile of accessible ocean beach. At the south end, the land rises into the coastal bluff and drainage of Cape Creek. Explore the tidepools and watch for whales and elk. The park is 14 miles north of Florence.
A day-use area with picnic tables and restrooms is located west of Highway 101. To the east is a 58-site campground with a seven-site, walk-in tent camping area, a hiker-biker camp, and 2 yurts. Campsites available year-round.
