Vale Oregon

Vale, Oregon (Cities) image

Vale is a Malheur County community, located at the far eastern border of Oregon on the old Oregon Trail. This town is situated a short distance west of Ontario, at the US Hwy 26/20 junction.

Wagon ruts can still be seen on Keeney Pass, a few miles south. You can view the culture and progress of early settlers as depicted on murals created by professional artists and located throughout the town. New murals are commissioned every year.

Another point of interest is the Stone House, built in 1872. This historic house has been a wayside inn, a pony express station and a private residence. The Owyhee River which has been designated a National Wild and Scenic River and the Owyhee Reservoir are located 25 miles south of Vale. The Bully Creek Reservoir is 10 miles northwest of Vale. Fishing, waterskiing, boating and camping are favorite Outdoor Activities. Vale is also the pheasant hunting capitol of Oregon.

There is also a Vale, South Dakota.
