Tumalo State Park Bend, Oregon (State Parks) image

Tumalo State Park is located in the center of a volcanic wonderland. South on Hwy 97 is Newberry National Volcanic Monument, which connects Newberry Crater to Lava Cast Forest, the Northwest Rift Zone, Lava River Cave, and Lava Butte. The monument covers about 56,000 acres.

The camping area at Tumalo provides 58 tent campsites, 23 trailer spaces with full utility hookups, 7 yurts, 2 group tent areas, and a hiker/biker camp. The nearest dump stations are at La Pine State Park, 27 miles south of Bend, or Cove Palisades State Park, 20 miles north of Redmond. Max RV at Tumalo is 44 feet.

A cool picnic area, shaded by large Ponderosa pines, junipers, and alders, is located across the highway from the campground.

Quality experiences await visitors to more than 200 state parks managed for the public by the Oregon State Parks.
