Timothy Lake

On the Mt. Hood Loop Trail. A part of the Oregon Cascades Birding Trail.

Timothy Lake is in the Mount Hood National Forest, Zigzag Ranger District. A popular recreation lake noted for it's scenery and views of Mount Hood. An artificial lake, it has many developed campgrounds, and is one of a few lakes in the Mount Hood National Forest that allow motorized boating. Popular activities include; Birding, fishing, motorized boating, sailing and windsurfing.

Fish Species include: Rainbow trout, brook trout, kokanee, cutthroat trout. All popular types of fishing methods: Fly, Spin and Bait are used. The angling seasons are Spring, Summer & Fall.

Campgrounds at the lake are: Pine Point, Cove, Gone Creek, Hoodview, North Arm, Oak Fork, Meditation Point (hike or boat only), and the nearby Little Crater Lake Campground.

Birders will enjoy this area for it's variety. Fall, Spring and Sumer migrant waterfowl including; Ring-necked Duck, Western, Horned and Eared Greb's, Common Loon, Bufflehead, Barrow's Goldeneye, Ring-billed and California Gull, Reb Crossbull, Varied Thrush and Hermit Thrush all move in and out of the area by the season.

Timothy Lake has 1,388 surface acres and a depth: 45', (80' maximum depth). Elevation: 3,227 feet above sea level. Handicap access facilities are available.

Timothy Lake is 78 miles southeast of Sandy off State Highway 26.
