Tamanawas Falls

On the Mt. Hood Loop Trail, a part of the Oregon Cascades Birding Trail.

In the Mount Hood National Forest From Hood River, follow Hwy-35 south for about 25 miles. Look for the trail 1.5 miles north of the intersection with Forest Road #44. Access to these 100 foot high falls is via a 2 mile hike on Tamanawas Trail. Thw Tamanawas Trail is near the river for about 8 miles.

The riparian habitat and mature mixed-conifer forest offers opportunities for birders to see nesting Harlequin Duck, American Dipper, Belted Kingfisher, Yellow-rumped and Townsends Warbler and the Ruby-crowned Kinglet throughout this section of the river corridor.
