Steens Mountain Driving Loop |
Many people enjoy a tour around the Steens to visit the rural communities. Highway 205 takes you to Frenchglen (take a side-tour to the community of Diamond), then to the Catlow Valley past Roaring Springs Ranch and Home Creek Ranch to Fields.
After a stop for lunch or a picnic in Fields, take the county road through the Alvord Desert. Next visit the hot springs or fish Mann Lake. Take a left when you reach Highway 78 and return to Burns with a stop at New Princeton or Crane for refreshments.
