Silverton Oregon

Named for its location on Silver Creek, Silverton is a Marion County community 15 miles east of the state capital in Salem along Hwy 213.

The first pioneers came to the banks of the Silver Creek, following timber and water power, in the 1800s. Silverton was incorporated in 1885.

Today, the success of the Oregon Garden of a partnership between the Garden, a private enterprise attracting tourists to botanical displays, and the City of Silverton. The historic downtown district and the beautiful mansions perched on the hills surrounding downtown bring thousands of visitors to the city. Many of the stately homes have become bed and breakfast establishments, where visitors can stoll the beautiful historic distric.

Popular attractions for Silverton include: Silver Falls State Park, Gallon House Bridge, Overfield Covered Pedestrian Bridge, Mt. Angel Abbey and the Brush Creek Playhouse.

Silverton is part of the Salem, Oregon metro area.
