Siltcoos Lake

Agency: Siuslaw National Forest And Lane County Parks

Siltcoos is a large, fairly shallow lake south of Florence. It is separated from the Pacific Ocean by the Oregon Dunes National Recreation Area. Covering 3164 acres, the lake has good year-round fishing. It is considered the best local lake for warm water fish with good bass fishing in early spring. It is stocked with rainbow trout and has moderate runs of sea run cutthroat and steelhead.

Located less than a mile from Florence, this popular Off-Road Vehicles (OHV), & ATV riding area can be accessed from South Jetty Road on the northern end, and Siltcoos Beach Access Road from the south end. There are many campsites in this area.

Several of the area camps are dedicated to the OHV/ATV style of camping. These specialized camps are situated for immediate access to the sand dunes and are designed with OHV Truck / Trailer parking and camping. Such camps are also set at a distance from the traditional campers to reduce the effect of the ATV noise upon the campers.
