Sand Prairie Campground

Agency: Willamette National Forest And listed in Lane County Parks

Situated on the Willamette River in Willamette National Forest 38 miles SE of Eugene. This camp is sheltered under a mix stand of trees and near the Middle Fork of the Willamette River. There is an access road to the south (upstream) end of the Hills Creek Lake. The 27-mile Middle Fork Trail begins at the south end of the campground. Fishing is good at this area. One can expect to catch large scale suckers, rainbow and cutthroat trout in the Middle Fork.

The camp location is 14 miles south of Oakridge on the Middle Fork of the Willamette River. From Oakridge, follow Highway 58 east for 2 miles to Kitson Springs Road. Continue on Kitson Springs Road for 0.5 miles to FS Road 21. Proceed on FS Road 21 for 11 miles to Sand Prairie Campground. The elevation of the camp is 1,600 feet and the use of this camp is moderate.

The Season runs from May through September with overnight camping limited to 14 days. There are 21 tent, auto, trailer sites, (Max length 28 feet). Area Activities include: camping, picnicking, fishing, hiking, bicycling and swimming.

Facilities include: flush toilets/vault toilets, piped well water, garbage containers, fire rings, pedestal grills, group picnic area Disabled access includes: 3 restrooms, dirt access routes, day use area, platform and a tactile sign.

There is a nearby boat launch on the reservoir. Leashed pets permitted. No reservations. Contact the Middle Fork Ranger District for more information.
