Over 85 Years of Western Tradition!

What started as a local event 86 years ago has grown into one of the nation's most popular rodeos. The Pendleton Round-Up is a major tourist attraction for rodeo fans throughout the United States and the world, bringing 50,000 people to Pendleton during the four-day event.

The idea for the Round-Up was conceived by Pendleton businessmen following a July 4th celebration with bronc riding, horse races, Indian feasts and war dances, a greased pig contest, sack races and fireworks.

The celebration passed to the Pendleton Round-Up Association in 1933. Since that time, the Round-Up has continued to grow while maintaining its traditional values. Today it is the largest four-day rodeo in the country.
