Oregon is blessed when it comes to large mammals. With a diverse variety of animals and geological environments, Oregon offers the best in big game hunting.
Many of Oregon's large animals were at one time, nearly hunted to extinction. The Grizzly Bear unfortunately was one species that didn't make it in Oregon. However, other species such as Pronghorn Antelope and Rocky Mountain Elk, though nearly wiped out, have made a great recovery. This recovery is mainly credited to volunteers and superb wildlife management.
Today, wildlife viewing and hunting for big game in Oregon is readily available throughout all regions.
