A 30 foot waterfall dropping to an obsidian bed. There are two Obsidian Falls; the lower and the upper. Both Falls are on Obsidian Creek. Location: About 18 miles east from Highway 126 on Highway 242 Scenic Byway, McKenzie Pass - State Rt. 242.
Safety advice; wear shoes that can withstand walking upon obsidian glass. The 11 mile looping, hiking trail ends at the upper falls. Classed as a dificult hike, the trail gains 1,800 feet of elevation. The upper falls may be viewed by hikers on the Pacific Crest National Scenic Trail.
