Monteith National Historic District

The Monteith District, located on the west side of downtown Albany, is named after the founding fathers of Albany - Walter and Thomas Monteith. The Monteith Historic District was placed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1980. Thirteen distinct architectural styles grace the 50 city blocks that make up the district.

The Monteith House, which was the first frame house built in Albany, in 1849, is open as a museum.
