Mineral Camp is a small dispersed camp situated along Sharps Creek at the base of the historic Hardscrabble Grade. Mineral was once a stopover place for miners before starting up the long steep grade to the Bohemia Mining Area.
Upstream from Dorena Reservoir and just inside the SW corner of the Umpqua National Forest this camp is about 13 miles south of Culp Creek on Sharps Creek Road.
This fairly isolated and lightly used spot has minimal forest camp facilities. The camp has toilets and 2 tent sites. No Potable water is available, but the camp is near Sharps Creek.
The major activity at this camp is camping and hiking.
Directions to this camp: From Cottage Grove Exit 174 on Interstate 5, take Row River Road #2400 east 13 miles to Sharps Creek Road #2460. Turn right on road #2460 driving south for ten miles. Turn left (east) continuing on the gravel portion of Sharps Creek Road #2460 for another 2 miles. Mineral Camp is located on the south side of road #2460.
