McKenzie Pass - State Rt. 242 |

The 82-mile (131 km) loop between Bend and Eugene, can include the historic McKenzie Pass Highway, State Rt. 242, (except in winter when it is closed by snow, or if you are in a hurry).
McKenzie Pass summit is 5,324 feet. The road leads through lava fields as well as forests.
This drive takes travelers on a tour of natural scenic wonders around the Mt. Washington Wilderness area. At one end, the historic McKenzie Pass meanders past Proxy Falls, ancient lava beds, and mountain vistas to the town of Sisters. Travelers can easily access Suttle Lake, Clear Lake, [sahalie] and Koosah Falls, and the McKenzie River.
