The vineyard is on the south slope of Chehalem Mountains, located between 700 and 800 feet above sea level. The site has a 10% slope to the south. This elevation gives a cool site, producing grapes that are fruit-forward and well balanced.
The Pinot Noir was planted in 1990, 5 acres at 8 foot by 5 foot spacing, entirely Pommard clone on its own roots. The soil is Jory clay loam. The crop level aimed for is less than two and a quarter tons per acre, with the 2001, 2002, and 2003 crops close to two tons per acre. The Riesling was planted in 1987, 1+ acres at 9 foot by 6 foot spacing and is pruned to 3 tons per acre.
