Hills Creek Lake

Hills Creek Lake Oakridge, Oregon (Lakes, Reservoirs and Ponds) image The Hills Creek Lake project, 45 miles SE of Eugene, is operated as a unit with Lookout Point Dam to provide flood control, irrigation, power generation, water-based recreation and improved navigation downstream.

Hills Creek Dam is an earthfill structure with a gated concrete spillway and outlet works for regulating lake levels. The lake behind the dam is set in rugged mountain country within the Willamette National Forest. The scenic 2735-acre lake with its 44 miles of forested shoreline provides many opportunities for outdoor regulation. The US Forest Service operates five parks around the lake, two of which have overnight camping. There are three boat ramps available on the lake.

The shoreline is managed to provide habitat for a wide variety of wildlife species. The Corps developed a 130-acre wildlife and wetland area below Hills Creek Dam. Water is diverted from a perennial stream into wetlands areas.
