Green Peter Reservoir and Foster Lake

A U.S. Army Corps of Engineers conservation project.

Green Peter Reservoir and Foster Lake Foster, Oregon (Lakes, Reservoirs and Ponds) image The two dams forming the Green Peter Reservoir on the Middle Santiam River and Foster Lake on the Lower Santiam River are designed to provide flood control, irrigation, power generation, water-based recreation and improved navigation downstream. Foster Lake regulates, or evens, the flow from Green Peter Dam.

Green Peter Dam is a concrete structure with a gated spillway. Foster Dam is a rock fill structure. The powerhouses at each dam contain two hydro-electric generators.

There are six parks along the two water bodies, five of them operated by Linn County Parks. Camping is available to Sunnyside County Park on Foster Lake and Whitcomb Creek County Park on Green Peter Reservoir.
