First Wasco County Courthouse |
The original courthouse, built in 1859, stands next to the Chamber of Commerce on W 2nd Street and features displays, slide shows and tapes. The courthouse was the seat of government for the largest county ever formed in the United States. In 1854, Wasco County covered 130,000 square miles from the Cascades to the Rockies.
Hours: Closed Nov-Feb.
In the front yard are wagons and a marble monument that once marked the grave of a steamboat pilot.
