Columbia Gorge Region

The Columbia River Gorge is a testament to the astounding forces of natural events and is also rich with cultural history such as Indian People once living and trading in the area, famous visits by explorers like Louis and Clark, and of settlers that followed along the Oregon Trail. It also provides a historic passage through the Cascade Mountains, from the "wet side" to the "dry side" of Oregon.

Today, hundreds of newer vineyard acres occupy a variety of terroirs throughout the Gorge. Flood-scoured plateau lands offer vineyards gravelly soils, long and sunny summer days, limited rainfall, and the temperature-moderating influence of updrafts from the nearby Columbia River Gorge. Delta lands offer rich, silty soils, sloping landscapes, and the long summer days characteristic of this northern climate.

Winery and vineyards in this area are known for excellent Rieslings, Chardonnay, Cabernet, Grenache, and Merlot.
