Brownsville Oregon |
Brownsville is located in Linn County, between Albany and Eugene off of Interstate 5, along the Calapooia River on the edge of the Willamette Valley. This town was settled in 1846 and named for Hugh L. Brown (store owner). Brownsville retains many homes dating from 1850-1900 and several historical buildings. It is the third oldest continuously occupied community in Oregon. The community is also the site of the oldest annual celebration in Oregon, the Linn County Pioneer Picnic. And was the Filming location for the 1986 movie, "Stand by Me."
Brownsville offers its visitors fishing, swimming and other outdoor recreation. The Linn County Historical Museum is available to the public.
