North BandonBullards Beach State Park and Bandon Marsh National Wildlife Refuge |
At Bullards Beach State Park there is access to 4-miles of beach and the north jetty. The jetty is short, but easy to walk. Look for surfbirds, turnstones, black oystercatchers, and rock sandpipers.
To get to Bandon Marsh, turn on the first road to the right after crossing the bridge. Park across from the large grey house. The best times are just after high tide. See flock after flock feeding in the tideflats: sandpipers, surfbirds, sanderlings, dunlins. Also see plovers, killdeer, herons and egrets as well as birds of prey like merlins and peregrine falcons. A scope makes viewing a lot easier.
