Bandon Oregon |

Bandon is located in Coos County south of Coos Bay, between Riverton and Port Orford along Highway 101 on the banks of the Coquille River, near the shores of the Pacific Ocean, Bullards Beach State Park and Floras Lake and Boice Park. This coastal community was named for Bandon, Ireland. In the early 20th century, the only way you could get to Bandon was by aquatic transport. Gold was discovered near here in 1851. Much of the lumber used to rebuild San Francisco after the 1906 earthquake was supplied by Bandon.
Bandon has three annual festivals: the Cranberry Festival, the Festival of Lights, and Seafood and Wine Festival. Other popular attractions include: Coquille Point, Face Rock Viewpoint State Park, Bandon Marsh, Coquille River Museum, Bandon Historical Society Museum and the Coquille River Lighthouse.
Salmon and steelhead fishing is productive on the Coquille River.
The population estimate for July 1, 1998 was 2,566, an increase of 342 since 1990.
There is also a Bandon, Ireland.
