Aufderheide National Scenic Byway

You'll think you've left America for popular Biking locales such as Ireland and New Zealand. Many riders return time and again to this wonderland.

West of Eugene, there are two ways to access the Aufderheide National Scenic Byway. The Byway follows Forest Service Road #19 off Highway 58 in Westfir, (The hamlet of Westfir is just a short distance north-west of Oakridge), or off Highway 126 four miles east of Blue River.

A popular cycling loop begins and ends in Eugene, but time, (or will), lacking, take the Lane County Transit bus #91 to the beginning of the byway off Highway 126. The travel time saved on this leg of the trip by taking the bus, allows more time for exploring the byway.
